๐ŸŒ Bananas Are Berries, but Strawberries Aren’t — Here’s Why

If you’ve always thought strawberries were the classic example of a berry, think again! Botanically speaking, bananas are the real berries — and strawberries don’t even qualify.
It all comes down to how fruits develop. A true berry grows from a single flower with one ovary and has seeds inside the flesh. Bananas tick all those boxes! Strawberries, on the other hand, grow from a flower with multiple ovaries, which makes them an “aggregate fruit.” Those tiny dots on the outside of a strawberry? They’re actually individual fruits with seeds inside each one.

So the next time someone calls a strawberry their favorite berry, you can politely blow their mind with a little science — and maybe grab a banana to celebrate the truth.
